Visit www.ontariohockeyleague.com for more information.

* Name game: The team will not be nameless for long as a naming contest is underway with submissions being accepted until midnight on Feb. 11 at ohl4flint.com. The ownership group is looking for a team name, team colors and logo. The winning submission – to be determined by a panel of IMS Hockey officials, Perani Arena front office staff and members of the OHL4Flint community advisory board – will win a pair of season tickets for the 2015-16 season and an authentic game-day jersey autographed by the players.

* All-star lineup: If you need a hockey fix before Sept. 26 – the requested opening night date for the new Flint OHL team – the Red Wings and Flint Generals alumni will face off in a special benefit game on Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Perani Arena.

“With all the hockey history in Flint – with the Generals and Spirits – it will be great to see the guys back on the ice and in the crowd, playing one of the greatest NHL franchises alumni – the Detroit Red Wings,” said longtime Generals defenseman Lorne Knauft. “Hockey fans in general, both Generals fans and Red Wings fans alike, won’t want to miss it.”

Among the notable Red Wings and other NHL alumni who will take to the ice are forward Joey Kocur, left wing Petr Klima, right wing and 50-goal scorer John Ogrodnick, right wing Brent Fedyk, center and 50-goal scorer Jimmy Carson and goalie Eddie Mio. Former Boston Bruins star left wing Sergei Samsonov is also slated to play as well as Maple Leafs star Al Iafrate.

Tickets are $10 and $15 and may be purchased at the Perani Box Office, Ticketmaster outlets or www.tickemaster.com. A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit United Way of Genesee County and the Old Newsboys of Flint.
